Well X-Mas has come and gone without incident. Well almost. There was the small incident of Tay tipping my chair back and my head bouncing off the floor. This is is why I stay in bed lol. Scared the shit out of her. Tre on the other hand wanted to beat her up cuz he thought she did it on purpose. Cooler heads prevailed and all was right with the world. Other than that small incident it was a pretty enjoyable day.

Kids got a buttload of crap. Tre got some Transformers, some wrestlers, about 10 hoodies, 3 movies(Like Mike, Major Payne, and Kung Fu Panda) and other misc crap. We’ve already watched Like Mike and Kung Fu Panda 3 times each. Tay got some baby doll stuff, a kitchen, an mp3 player, and some barbie movies, as well as other misc crap. Oogie got some sleepers, a ball popper(put the balls in, they pop out), a Mozart music cube, and other stuff I don’t recall. It was a good day. Now on to the pictures…on my myspace…cuz I’m lazy

While I’m on sports, a very fond farewell to the greatest pitcher I’ve ever seen. Greg Maddux retired a couple weeks back after an incredible career. He was by far my favorite pitcher to watch. I just wish I had gotten to see him pitch live. There was nothing better than being a Braves fan during the heyday of the big three of Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux. It’s amazing, and a little depressing, that we only got one championship during that time. Damn you Eric Gregg! Oh, I remember and will never forget how he gave Florida that series. Anyway, goodbye bulldog. Thanks for the memories. And with that, I’m out.

This time, the above average Part 1 offerings. There will be spoilers, so if you don’t want to be spoiled you might as well move on. We’ll start with comics.

First up is the Ultimates Volume 1&2 - The Ultimates is a re-imagining of many Marvel comic favorites…and not so favorites. The Cast includes Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Hank Pym(Giant Man/Ant Man) his wife The Wasp, and in minor roles, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Black Widow.

The tone is a little grittier than some comics, and some of the super heroes aren’t so super. For example, the Hulk goes on a murderous rampage. The Ultimates are Ultimately forced to execute The Hulk. Dr Hank Pym is a wife beater, even going so far as to send an army of ants after his wife while in her Wasp form. The Thor side story was fun and actually made me like him(wasn’t ever a fan). And the overall story arcs of both volumes were pretty good. I say pick up the graphic novels and give them a read.

Next up, Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter - Guilty Pleasures - I’ve never read any of the Anita Blake books, hell never heard of them until this comic was released. The story is set in a place where Vampires, werewolves, and all kinds of creepy crawlies exist. Vampires are now “out” among the public. Anita, a necromancer and licensed Vampire Hunter is hired/blackmailed by the Master Vampire of the city to investigate a series of Vampire murders. She does so, and in the process gets into a whole lot of shit. If you’re into Vampires at all, check it out. Not sure if it’s available in Graphic Novel form yet. So you may have to acquire it through other means. Ebay, comic shop, *cough*demonoid.com*cough*

And the last post in part 1 of Above Average Media…an actual book…though it is Star Wars.
Star Wars: Darth Bane - Rule of Two by Drew Karpyshyn - Not near as good as the first one, but it mostly focused on his apprentice Zannah who I just couldn’t get into at all. It was still a good read and I really enjoyed the ending , but I had high expectations after the first Darth Bane book and Zannah didn’t deliver. So while it’s still above average, it was also disappointing in some respects.

…I posted something. I’ve really been slacking, I know. But today was a shitty day, with a rewarding end. Anyway on to the post. Without mincing words, she who shall not be named is a fuckin’ idiot. She’s fucking pregnant again! Is birth control really that fuckin’ difficult to figure out? In cases like hers I actually wish the government would step in and make her get her damn tubes tied. How can someone be that irresponsible to bring another kid into this situation? Just makes no sense to me. No idea how this affects our current situation. Just fuckin’ stupid. I gotta tell ya, I don’t know if my mom can handle another baby in the house. We’re scraping by now, financially and emotionally. Just for the record. She who shall not be named(SWSNBN) is still jobless, homeless, and brainless. If she gets the kids back, they are fucked. Enough negativity.

The main reason I decided to post finally, is the awesome thing my nephew(Tre) said tonight. A little background. We’re watching Cowboy Bebop before he goes to bed and the episode is focused on where people belong, and one of the characters is trying to find where she belongs in the world. When Tre suddenly says…
“Bubby(that’s what he calls me). I know where I belong.”
I said, “Where?”
and he says, “Right here.”

Damn near made me cry. I didn’t know what to say, so I just said “yep”. I’ve said before I never wanted this. It’s moments like that that make me question myself, and how someone could ever do their kids like his mom has done. Anyway, just had to post that. Maybe 10-15 years from now, we’ll look back on this post and smile.

I”ll start with the bad and mediocre. The bad being, “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry”. I laughed a total of two times during the movie. It was just one long gay joke. The only saving grace…oh I think you know. Jessica Biel’s fine, fine ass. In the immortal words of Adam Sandler in the movie Billy Madison…”Soooo hot, want to touch the heinie.” That might be the best ass in Hollywood.

On to more bad. Next is the boring, pointless, uninteresting pile of literary feces by the name of “Legacy of the Jedi” (by Jude Watson). It was a 3 part series. After reading the first, I skipped it’s sequels. So bad. Nothing more needs to be said…skip it!

On to mediocre, we have the straight to DVD “Big Stan” starring Rob Schneider. It had everything I like in a comedy. It was crude, politically incorrect, violent, and nonsensical. It also had Bob Sapp, Don Frye, and Randy Couture in it who are all big names in MMA. Also stars Jennifer Morrison(House) and David Carradine. It’s not a movie I’d buy, but worth checking out with some friends.

And one last mediocre. Jedi Apprentice 01 - The Rising Force (by Dave Wolverton). It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good. Hence…mediocre. I’m just gonna copy&paste a review I put up elsewhere…
“Much better(referring to the craptastic “Legacy of the Jedi), but still a bit slow. Gave some pretty good insight into Obi Wan and Qui Gon Jinn’s early relationship and how he came to be Qui-Gon’s Padawan. Nothing terribly interesting.” If you’re bored, it’s raining, the spank bank is empty, the electricity is out, you own the book, and have nothing else to read…give it a shot. But don’t go out of your way to read it.

Only good part of the trip was getting to see Stomp Out Loud Live in Vegas. One of the greatest things I’ve ever experienced. Made even better with the knowledge that after January the only place you will be able to see them is in New York. So glad I got to see them. No matter how good the show, still not worth the horrible vacation…never, ever again…well maybe Comic-Con…still debating.

We also took my 96 year old Great-Grandma with us and if you’ve seen National Lampoon’s Vacation, I was sure we were gonna live it. You know the part where they pick up their grandma and she dies on them and they don’t notice cuz they think she’s sleeping. Every time she fell asleep, that popped in my mind. Funny, yet morbid lol.

Also one small cool little note about the trip. There was 4 generations of us in that van. It was like the bible and shit. Mildred Allen(great-grandma) beget John Allen(grandpa), John Allen beget Dinah Allen(mom), Dinah Allen beget Me(me). Well I’ll have more later as well as some pictures. Those with my myspace can see some of the pics there already. Well I’m out. I’ll probably have the pictures up tomorrow.

Sorry, I’ve been letting my laziness get the best of me. Figured I should make at least one post before I disappear for a month.

God this trip is gonna suck. We are planning to hit up Vegas though so that’s a plus. Gonna try to go see Cirque De Soleil and Penn & Teller. Maybe Cheech & Chong, not positive yet. Other than that I plan to stay holed up in my room the entire time. Biggest problem will be trying convince people I actually like being alone. It’s not JUST a “fuck family” mentality. People in general just aren’t big on my list of things I like. Oh I have a list. Number one on the list…Me being left the fuck alone a good portion of every day. Of course that doesn’t work too well now that we have she who shall not be named’s kids. My weekends are shot, but I’m getting used to the idea…I guess. Anywho, I digress…this trip is gonna suuuuck.

Been watching some TV…shocking! Mostly The Cleaner on A&E. Really decent show starring Benjamin Bratt. About an ex-drug addict who made a deal with God and now is doing “god’s work”. Whatever the hell that means. Well for his character, it means, helping other’s kick whatever addiction they have. No matter what, when, how, or why. I’m enjoying it.

Also, Tre and I finished up Fullmetal Alchemist. Really good fricken’ anime. Ended about as good as it could. Pussed out on some deaths. Mustang should have died. I think it would’ve been fitting. I generally hate overly sappy, nice, perfect endings to shows and whatnot but I would’ve really liked to have seen FMA end that way. With Ed & Al getting their bodies back, retiring from the military and moving back home. Just would have been a nice way to end it after all the shit they went through. And they went through a lot of shit. My 3rd favorite anime behind Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. We’re watching Outlaw Star now. Having a had time getting into it. The English voice acting is atrocious. Way too childish sounding.

Hmm, what else? Went to my cousins football game last Friday. They won huge, 45-0 or something like that. Drew’s the kicker, punter, Wide Receiver, and Free Safety I believe. He’s pretty good. Their best Wide Receiver easily imo, yet they rarely pass it to him. We’re going to his game Friday the 26th as well. Sally(my Aunt) is gonna take the kids then to give my mom a chance to get everything together for our long, shitty trip. Hope things go okay. They(the kids) get discipline here, but we’re pretty lax. They don’t really have to do much. As long as they’re good, they get to pretty much do whatever…within reason. Sally on the other hand is very strict. I mean, maximum security prison strict. Should be an interesting first couple weeks, what with Tay’s epic stubborn streak. Not too worried with Tre. He’s a pretty good kid.

Hmmm, haven’t been doing much reading since getting Rock Band 2. I’m still a vocal God.

That’s really about it. She who shall not be named already “quit” her job. We think she was fired. The job was too hard for her…that job…stocking shelves…*le sigh*. Of course no visitation this week. Wish this would all just end so the kids(and us) could move on with our lives. Well, I’m out. Hope to have kept mildly entertained with this long, pointless, meandering, unfocused, boring post.

Well, it looks to be another loooong year for Chiefs fans. Croyle is one of the softest quarterbacks I’ve ever seen. Of course he’s not helped by our piss poor line.

Dwayne Bowe is NOT a number 1 receiver. No real number 1 receiver drops 4 fuckin’ passes. And if said number 1 receiver does drop 4 passes, he doesn’t give an interview after the game and nonchalantly say “he played OK.” He should be pissed at himself. Let us know how he’ll never let that happen again. But no, he’s apparently comfortable at being a failure. Well there’s no wonder Carl Peterson likes him so. Peas in a pod. What are we in now? Year 19 of his 3 year plan?

The defense looks pretty good however. Not impressed by our new middle linebacker, but liking our secondary…for the most part. Our d-line is a work in progress.

Only real bright spot was Jamaal Charles and the ever steady Tony G. Larry Johnson just isn’t what he used to be and that worries me, but we’re stacked at that position so not a big worry.

With all that said, at least we’re not the Raiders…HA!

Nothings really going on in my life right now so I figured to shut some people up about my lack of posting I’d post some ringtones I made. One quick note of annoyance first…

She who shall not be named got a job and works evenings. Because of this, the people in charge of this whole mess wants to take Tre out of school once a week so he can have visitation still. I mean I get it…sorta, but is that really the best solution. He’s already behind other kids his own age thanks to she who shall not be named and her propensity to be too tired/lazy/drugged/fucked up to get him up to go to school last year. And now they wanna take him outta school to go see her!? Even without custody of her kids she continues to fuck shit up for them…though this isn’t really her fault…I’m just saying.

Well after “acquiring” 209 Star Wars novels.  I finished the first one today.  The first one being Darth Bane: Path of Destruction.  Based roughly 1000 years before the events of Episode I.  It’s a look at one of the most powerful and influential Sith Lords in the Star Wars universe, Darth Bane.  He single-handedly destroyed the sith as it was known then and rebuilt it based on the Sith Lords of the past.  Namely Darth Revan and the “Rule of Two.”  The Rule of Two being that there can only be two Sith Lords at any given time.  A master and apprentice.  The book doesn’t cover all of this.  This book basically just covers his origin.  How he went from a lowly miner, to Darth Bane, Dark Lord of the Sith and completely destroyed the Sith as it was known at the time so he could enact his rule of two.  It was a really good read and can’t wait to read the next book in the Star Wars universe.
