Random TV for the week

Dexter is getting better and better. I originally disliked the love triangle but it’s getting pretty damn good. I hope Doakes isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Love the dynamic between him and Dexter and it got ramped up Sunday to the nth degree. Good stuff.

Weeds is pretty much a parody of it’s self at this point. Do like the story of the youngest now “seeing” and “talking” to his dead dad. Poor little bastard.

I finally saw the “Booze Cruise” episode of The Office, and didn’t realize how big that episode was. I LOVED it when Jim broke it off with his lady friend. It was so cringe-worthy.

House was awesome as per usual. I knew that Michael Michelle was gonna get fired but didn’t expect it so quickly. Finally get some insight into “number 13″ next week. I totally dig her by the way. Surprised Kumar’s lasted as long as he has as well as the “bitch”.

Chuck gets an automatic win once again this week as he had an Oldboy poster in his room. He may have had it in there in past episodes but I never noticed it. Decent episode as well.

Heroes Season 2 Ep. 7

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Easily the best Heroes episode to this point. The revelation in at the end was glorious. Here you’re thinking Hiro’s storyline is just filler. Keep Hiro in the show. Little light-heartedness, then it all comes together and his storyline is the most important to this point. Adam having Peter on his side is quite the badass team. Sylar seems pretty insignificant at this point, but I’m sure things will come together. Greeeat episode.

Side note: Word is they’ve canceled the Heroes spin-off due to the writer strike…it makes me very sad as they had alot of good directors/writer’s lined up for it. I was really looking forward to Kevin Smith’s episode.

Phenomenon on NBC…

Giant douchebag

Ok I’ve watched the first two episodes of this show and I can say with certainty that “mentalists” are…well, mental. Why do they ALL have to give that look like somebody stuck something up their ass, and they like it, but they don’t wanna admit or even acknowledge that something is currently up their ass. Like they know some deep dark secret that no one else could ever know.

The guy above is like the master of this look. I have dubbed him and his look the “Uri Douchebag” look. Get it…Uri douchebag…You’re a douchebag…cuz his name is Uri…well I found it fuckin’ hilarious.

Last night Criss Angel went off on one of the performers and it was glorious. During this guys performance I was laughing the whole time. Way over done, and…well laughable and Criss Angel called him out on his “gift”. Not sure why he rubbed Angel the wrong way for him to attack him(verbally) the way he did. My guess is he’s not a fan of the douchebags who use a person’s grief over a lost one and uses that to his advantage. Oh, his “gift” is he can talk with the dead.

There have been a few good performers. The needle in a haystack guy, the Russian roulette guy(his performance was better than the chicks), and watching Raven Simone freak the hell out over and over again. Good stuff. Not a great show, but I’m a fan of magic/illusions/mentalists so I’ll continue to watch.

Heroes Episode 5 and Chuck

Another slow episode after the greatness of the last ep. Only part I really liked…and I really, really liked it. Was Parkman’s confrontation with his dad. I was convinced he wasn’t the “Nightmare Man”. Then BAM! “Fuck you Matt Parkman! Sonny boy! I am the Nightmare Man!” I figure Parkman will be able to use his soon to be gotten, new found power to help Molly. Peter’s story is kinda getting interesting…his “acting” still bothers me. Very Keanu Reeves-esque.

Chuck had it’s slowest, most boring, uneventful, episode yet. Nothing happened…at all.

Random TV side note…
I was watching Justice League with Tre last night, and heard quite possibly one of the funniest, completely unintentional lines ever…

The setup. A General and one of the former head guys at Cadmus(secret organization setup to defend against the perceived threat of the Justice League) was talking to another former member and he says…”Superman walked right into Cadmus and tossed our men like a salad”. At first my mouth was agape. Like, how could he say some shit like that? Then reality set in and knew it was an innocent comment and didn’t really imply any “salad tossing” lol. I got a giggle out of it either way.

Finished the UK Office…

Spoiler for Allen…and anybody else that hasn’t seen the Christmas Special

The second part of the Christmas special was some of the best TV I’ve ever seen. I normally hate shows/movies that tie up in a nice pretty little bow in the end. But it was soooo nice to see something good happen for David after all the bad. It was getting very depressing. And of course, Tim & Dawn. When she left the party early with her fiancĂ©, and didn’t even look back. I just knew it was over. Tim missed his opportunity, Dawn was gone forever. He(and she) would forever wonder, “What if?” It almost…almost made me cry when she opened her present. Was still pretty sure it’d end with that. Then she came back, sans loser fiancĂ©. Without a word, kissed Tim in the middle of the party. All was right in the world. It made me happy.

With all the sappy shit outta the way, it was still a very funny episode. Love how David was ALWAYS trying to kiss up to the “office black guy” throughout the whole season. “I did a beautiful version of No Woman, No Cry, by the late great Bob Marley…and, and The Office black guy, he loved it…so…I mean, he would know.”

Anyway, the Uk Office rocks my socks off, and will be buying it on DVD at my next nearest convenience.

Dexter on Showtime…

Slow episode this week. I like the injection of Rita’s mother. Conflict is always good, especially misguided conflict based on past conflicts. The heat as a character wasn’t handled that well. Best use of that that I’ve seen is in Kurosawa’s Stray Dog. Wonderful use. I’m not sure I like Dexter’s sponsor, her name escapes me. Seems a little convenient that she may be “evil” in some way.

Watched Bionic Woman as well…I think I’m done with that show. The acting, dialogue, and Isiah Washington suck. Nothing going on to keep me interested.

Heroes tonight, woohoo!

My Name is Earl & The Office

Earl was the clear winner this week. I mean it had H.R. Pufnstuf, Crabman and his beautiful song “Please Respect the Meat”, a telenovela, and of course…ninjas. My favorite episode of the year.

Office was…odd. Not as funny, but not bad. Had some emotional moments. My favorite being when Jim consoled Dwight over his relationship with Angela.

A lot of great lines as always, and loved the entire who/whom scene, and when Michael says “No one asked you anything ever so whomevers name is Toby, why don’t you take a letter opener and stick it in your skull.” And Kelly saying, “Ryan used ME as an object.” And, Kevin saying “I know, but I’m not telling because nobody showed up last night”. Just a really great scene.

UK Office Season 2

uk_office.jpg

Bloody hell, that was brilliant. Season 1 was funny, Season 2 was extremely funny. Much darker comedy, and overall tone. Especially the last few episodes. I can see why people like this better than the US version…I’m not one of those people, but I will be getting this on DVD…finally. Also watched the first part of the Christmas special and the David Brent music video was possibly the greatest thing ever. Great stuff.

That is all

Heroes Episode 4 and Chuck

Spoilers of course…

Finally the show(Heroes) is beginning to get more interesting. The Wonder Twins have run into Sylar and with their powers he could do some real damage. They’re on their way to see the deceased Suresh who the Wonder Twins believe can help them with their “curse”. Sylar is now “helping” them on this journey.

Lame, creepy, flying teenager is still, lame & creepy. I soooo loathe him.

My favorite storyline this episode is the newly introduced Nawlins family and the girl with Taskmaster’s powers. Which for you non-comic geeks is the ability to see something or someone do anything and be able to do it. The Rey Mysterio 619 was a bit lame, yet cool at the same time. I loved Micah trying to heal her sadness with his powers. Was a nice moment.

No Hiro this episode was a downer, and meant more lame, creepy, flying emo kid.

Molly revealing that Parkman’s deadbeat dad is the bad man in Molly’s nightmare’s was a nice wrinkle. Should get interesting. All in all, the show really picked things up this episode.

Chuck was ok. Not the great show I had pegged it for, but fun to watch in a mindless kind of way. I’ll watch it as long as it’s on.

That is all.

It’s like eating a hot circle of garbage!

This weeks Office was on fire. Funny throughout, with a sprinkle of touching, nice moments to keep it a balanced show. Loved Stanley dancing to the music on the website, and of course Dwight’s sales battle vs the “self aware” computer. Angela has reached new heights of bitchiness. Darryl is so gonna nail Kelly. The lack of Creed sucked. That is all…

Wait, no it isn’t. Earl was ok, nothing great though.
