Jon Fitch vs Chris Wilson – A close fight without a lot of action. Fitch wins via unanimous decision.

Yushin Okami vs Evan Tanner – I was rooting for Evan Tanner but knew it wasn’t likely to happen. Tanner’s been out of the game for 2 years, soul searching…and by soul searching, I mean drinking lots of beer and posting crazy drunken ramblings on his myspace blog. Okami finished it with a huge knee, knocking out the madman of Vegas.

Chris Leben vs Alessio Sakara – I hate Leben, but I hope he continues to win if only to get a rematch versus Silva and to be ultimately dismantled. Leben wins via wild brawling KO…decent match.

Heath Herring vs Cheick Kongo – Great first round, with some surprisingly good jiu jitsu by both men. Then round 2 came and we were subjected to Herring in side control hitting about 30 knees to Kongo’s side. Kongo…did nothing. 3rd round was more of the same only Herring hit about 50 knees to Kongo’s side. Some retard judge actually had Kongo winning the fight. Herring wins via split decision.

Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson – The only reason I purchased the PPV. Silva is slowly rising to God like status. I really though Hendo had a chance, and after the first round I was even more convinced…then Silva lands a big knee, gets back control and that’s all she wrote as Silva slaps on a rear naked choke forcing Hendo to tap. Silva is unbeatable. Fucking awesome.

Got one bonus fight and it was fucking great. Josh Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett – Koscheck landed a big bomb KO’ing Hazelett. It was a fun fight.

Reality? Who’s reality, sure as hell ain’t mine.

I submersed myself in reality tv today. Got caught up on Celebrity Rehab. Anybody runnin’ a pool on who will actually stay sober? I say it’s a clean sweep…and none of ‘em do. I like Mary Carey, but I don’t think she has a chance. I say Chyna’s dead by 2009 whether it be suicide or accidental OD. Ricco’s still a fuckin scumbag. If I had to bet, I’d put my money on Shifty…maybe Brigitte. Jaimee Foxworth is gonna get bombed out of her mind within a week. Jessica Sierra is a toss up. I’m leaning towards relapse, but then cleans her act up. It sure as hell doesn’t look promising for any of ‘em.

Also watched the BBC’s Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares. Not much commentary, other than the owner being a loser. Kudos to the head chef for being a stand-up guy willing to help troubled youth.

I just deleted my DVR recording of My Fair Brady. There are no redeeming qualities to that show. I’m ashamed for ever watching it. Just total crap.

Watched America’s Best Dance Crew Saturday or so. Again, I think the JabbaWockeeZ did the best in actually following the guidelines. I really liked Status Quo and Kaba Modern as well. I never liked Live in Color. Same thing every fricken’ week. BreakSk8 was kinda just there. And nobody really cares what Fysh N Chicks did. I’ll be shocked if they last another week.

Side note: Jayhawks killin’ Texas Tech…woohoo!

HD-DVD

Qucikly for someone…I ain’t mad at cha.  Now onto the topic at hand.

Wow! I am utterly shocked at how good HD-DVD looks compared to DVD. My TV only does 720P and it is gorgeous. I may actually have to get a PS3 now so I can have a blu-ray player…fuck the games! I only own one movie thus far and that’s King Kong(which I hate by the way). And I only have it because it came with the player. DVD looks like VHS compared to HD-DVD. Can’t wait until all my movies get here.

That is all.

American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980 – 1986

american-_hardcore_dvd.jpgI’ve always been fascinated by the punk scene. But until now, I’ve never looked into it. Only thing punk I knew of was the Sex Pistols and The Ramones. It’s safe to say, I’m not a fan of punk after seeing this. Only band I sorta enjoyed, of what little I heard, was D.O.A. and Bad Brains. I totally respect the scene. Just not the music I’d ever be into. It was cool seeing Henry Rollins in the scene. Didn’t much dig Black Flag, but they didn’t show a whole lot of performance stuff. My favorite line from the movie was John Joseph going on a calm profanity laced tirade about todays “punk” scene…

“We looked forward to going on the road because at least we got hospitality and we got fed and we got to do shows and have a great time, but it wasn’t none of this shit, all these fucking, like, spoiled little fucking brats that are on MTV now with their fucking buses and all this bullshit and they’re calling that shit punk. That ain’t fucking punk.”

Bitter much? Though I feel the exact same way about most of the rap music of today.

Also didn’t know straight edge was popularized by the hardcore punk scene. Interesting, since my image of punk was drug addicted fools like those in the Sex Pistols. Anyway, I greatly enjoyed the DVD and highly recommend it.

Rush Hour 3

rushhour3.jpgI’m pretty sure I’ve seen this movie before. I think it was called Rush Hour. Plots are pretty much interchangeable. I picked out the bad guy as soon as he appeared on screen. They totally wasted the Triad plotline. This is the first movie I’ve seen where Jackie actually looked old. The big stunts were pretty ridiculous. Not Transporter 2 ridiculous, but it was pretty close. Overall, this movie should have never been made…twice. Best part of the movie, was the outtakes. I say skip this one, and just watch the original Rush Hour. You’ll get much more enjoyment out of it.

I’m all out of clever titles

Watched the most recent episode of Celebrity Rehab and it was a really good, positive episode. Jeff Conaway is all kinds of fucked up. It’s pretty clear that his girlfriend/fiance clearly needs some form of help as well. Chyna is a mystery wrapped in an enigma(I love than line). She looks like a future suicide statistic. Something isn’t right with her, and she isn’t helping matters by being so defiant and stand-offish. I’m really liking Mary Carey. She seems like a genuinely nice person who took a wrong turn somewhere. Ditto on Shifty. He clearly loves the hell out of his son. Shame his wife didn’t come to the group meeting or dinner. I’m sure she’s been through hell though. Still should’ve been there to support the father of their child. Just my opinion. Bad move having the dinner in plain site of a fully stocked bar. Brigitte was having a really hard time with that. But again, the support got her through it.

Now this is great reality TV. Not that exploitive and gives a glimpse into the rehab process. Good show.

Side note: It’s kinda interesting that 4 of the women there have been in some kind of porn. 2 in the business, and 2 with sex tapes.

Rock of Love II

Strike is over, but other than Lost there’s nothing on TV still. Sooo, I’m still watching the fine programming on VH1. Not a bad episode. I don’t know any of their names but Daisy, and Kristy Jo. I picked Daisy to go all the way from the beginning though she’s far from the hottest chick on the show. She just seems like Bret’s type. The ending of this weeks ep really threw me for a loop…at first. I was like “No fuckin’ way!” Daisy was having a serious conniption fit as she thought she was going home. Classy move on Bret’s part to keep all the ladies this week, though that one blond bitch who stole two of the notes that biker chick wrote is just skanless. She needs to go. Anyway, that’s it. Another boring day.

Dwight Howard is the bomb diggitty yo

dhoward_sm.jpg

He dominated the slam dunk contest. I told all ya’ll(Allen), he was the truth! He had three craaaaazy dunks. His Superman dunk had me rollin’! Just good shit all around.

As for the rest of the festivities…
Dwyane Wade’s a bitch. That was a sad, pathetic showing. Kapono is awesome. Never seen him play, might have to check ‘em out…but then I’d have to watch the Raptors. He can flat stroke it.

Best part of the show was EASILY Charles Barkley talking/commentating/rambling. He had me laughin’ so fuckin hard my jaws were starting to hurt. Good time’s, good time’s. “There is a titty out there!”

America’s Best Dance Crew

Again Kaba Modern and JabbaWockeeZ killed it. Wasn’t feeling Live In Color. BreakSk8 impressed once again. Iconic was much better this week. Unlike the judges, I liked Status Quo, though their end “stunt” was overly complicated and well…stupid. They got screwed with the Hammer dance. Fish and Chix was the weak link, but maybe it’s my utter hatred for Beyonce. Femme 5 was 100x better than last week…still don’t like ‘em.

Imo JabbaWockeeZ FTW!

Things and stuff

Bought some shit. Mostly stuff to further cement my position as nerd extraordinaire. I bought two anime series. Outlaw Star and Vision of Escaflowne. I also have a framed cel from Outlaw Star. Continuing with the anime theme, I also bought a Vash the Stampede zippo. Also finally completed my Full Metal Alchemist series by buying the last 2 dvd’s in the series.

Bought a spiffy case for it from Paul Champagne. He makes custom DVD cases for movies, TV series, anime, and other stuff. For example, he made me a custom case for all my urban drama DVD’s. It holds Menace II Society, Boyz N the Hood, Juice, New Jack City, South Central, & Fresh. I also bought his Terminator, and Kurosawa case’s awhile back. The Kurosawa one holds Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, and Hidden Fortress. I’m trying to get him to make one for the Zatoichi films now.

Continuing with my purchases of nerdocity, I also bought 4 graphic novels. Bought Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman: Endless Nights, Death: The High Cost of Living, and Death: The Time of Your Life. The fourth GN is a pre-order of The Killing Joke(hard cover) by Alan Moore.

To round out and finish off my purchases, I got Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman, Vol. 11 – Zatoichi and the
Doomed Man, and Lost: Season 3 on DVD…Allen already hijacked it.

Here’s pics of my Fulmetal Alchemist and Kurosawa cases.

Fullmetal Alchemist case.Greatest director ever!
