Albi: The Racist Dragon

Ok, I’m a little late on the Flight of the Conchords bandwagon but if it’s alright, I’d like to get in on the fun. I started catching replays of their show on HBO and I can’t get enough of them. It’s just inspired, brilliant stuff…and mutha’uckin’ hilarious. The first season DVD will soon be mine, and thanks to Napster I now am the proud owner of the most recent CD and “The Distant Future” CD. Loving it…a lot. MP3 time and K-Ci & Jojo have been bumped for the awesomeness of FotC.

That is all. Wait, no, go check Flight of the Conchords out…now.

I’ve got nothing…

Current Mood:Indifferent emoticon Indifferent

…to post about, but figured I should blog. Been a few days, but just haven’t been in the mood. Still not. Sooooo…hmmm. Getting myself an ID Card Tuesday so I can actually get into Comic-Con. Can’t fricken’ wait. Then we’re heading to Pittsburg to do a little shopping. Mostly groceries, but I’m sure the kids will end up with something…they always do. Tre got a spiffy electric guitar toy today. It plays like 14 songs, and he can hook his mp3 player into it, and it is way too advanced for a 5 year old. But he’s enjoying it so I guess that’s what counts. I’ll probably get a DVD or two. Trying to cut back since I plan to get a Blu-ray player aka a PS3. May just get a few Blu-ray DVD’s as my new laptop has a Blu-ray drive. I hate saving money…and I’m not very good at it.

In completely different, yet still media related news, the new Bizzy Bone Cd is really good. Been listening to a lot of 90’s R&B, particularly Jodeci, Silk, and Shai. Also a bunch of underground Hip-Hop. There’s a lot of good shit out there if you look. I’m really digging Napster. On the other hand, I’m not really diggin’ the new Gnarls Barkley cd. It’s still good, but not near as good as St. Elsewhere. I’ll probably post an mp3 Saturday. I’m thinking K-Ci & Jojo.

Watched Juno again today. Great movie. Just fuckin’ hilarious. Random quotes from the movie…

“That ain’t no Etch A Sketch. This is one doodle that can’t be undid, Homeskillet.”
“Thundercat’s are gooooooo!” - My favorite quote
“Next time I see that Bleeker kid I’m going to punch him in the wiener.”
“You shoulda gone to China. You know, ’cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods. You know they pretty much just put them in those t-shirt guns and shoot them out at sporting events.”
“Like I’d marry you, you’d be the meanest wife ever ok? And I know that you weren’t bored that day. Because there was a lot of stuff on tv and The Blair Witch Project was coming on Stars and you were like, “I haven’t seen this since it came out and so we should watch it,” but oh no we should just make out instead la la la…”
“Well, you know, I was thinking I’d just nip it in the bud, before it gets worse, because they were talking about it in health class, how pregnancy, it can often lead to… an infant.”

Not much else going on. Kids had visitation today. By all accounts everything went well. She who shall not be named, actually had the gall to call my mom a bad mother the other day. Yeah. Fuckin’ unbelievable. Also 7 days of drug/alcohol classes is apparently too much for her. “She can quit anytime she wants.” Her words, not mine. Apparently she doesn’t want to.

Anyway, can’t wait for Comic-Con! I’m almost looking forward to all the folks in costume than the actual show. It’s gonna be glorious.

Abashed the Devil stood; and felt how awful Goodness is

Last night my cousin and Cody stayed the night and we watched two movies. Both of which I had seen before. American Pie and The Crow. American Pie is what it is. Low brow teen comedy. Good stuff.

The Crow on the other hand. Easily one of my favorite movies. Everything about it is incredible. The cinematography is my favorite part of the movie…yes really. It just gave the movie so much atmosphere. Of course, the action and story was very nice as well, and the acting was pretty good. It didn’t hurt that the star was Brandon Lee, son of the legendary Bruce Lee. I had followed his career since the beginning as I’m a huuuuge Bruce Lee fan. It’s a shame Brandon Lee died during the movie. Just like his dad before him, just when they were set to become huge stars, tragedy strikes them down. Sad bit of business.

My favorite quote from the movie…
“If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever.”

If you haven’t seen it. First off, shame on you. Second of all, seriously, shame on you! And thirdly, go watch it now.

I would love to see a Sin City movie by the people behind the Crow.

Dentist and dumb fuckin’ people

Current Mood:Indifferent emoticon Indifferent

Went to the dentist Monday. All went well. Getting a couple of crowns. Had some mild pain until today. Nothing bad. For some reason I was just “blah” all day. From the moment I woke up till I got up Tuesday. I’m usually pretty talkative at the dentist. Not Monday, I just watched a movie on my media player. Went to Wal-Mart afterwards. Got some snacks for the kids…and me…and my cousins…and Cody. Mom bought me a movie. The Doors to be exact. Greatest group ever. Then came home. That is the extent of my exciting day.

In dumb fuckin’ people news. First off, my mom’s best friends kid was caught shoplifting. He’s likely going to lock-up. I think he’s 14. Her worry…losing his child support.

In more dumb fuckin’ people news. She who shall not be named got her stimulus check. She immediately goes to the city and gets “robbed”. She claims to have been robbed, made to get naked and stole her shoes as well. But when she called her friend’s, she apparently was feeling no pain and didn’t seem upset. Coincidence? I think not. She’s been “robbed” more than anybody in the history of ever. Whenever she gets any good amount of money, it disappears within’ two days. She might soon be homeless as she is quickly burning all her bridges. She’s staying with the aforementioned friend’s and they also smoke weed and wet. And they’re about done with her. You know things are bad when drug addicts are sick of your shit.

To top things off, she’s gonna miss visitation because she going to Nevin’s court appearance. Yep, she’d rather go see the loser du jour, than her awesome fricken’ kids. Her loss. Right now the kids are better off without her.

And that’s all in dumb fuckin’ people news.

One last b-day celebration…

Current Mood:Chill emoticon Chill

…for Tre this year. Tre had his b-day with his mom Friday. They(she who shall not be named and her insignificant other) were supposed to come to the house. But of course they were gonna be 2 hours late. God forbid they show up on time to see their kids. Anyway, so instead of coming here, things were changed. They ended up meeting at the “Farm”. It’s the group that handles these cases. By all accounts, things went well. She who shall not be named got him Avatar…allegedly. And his “dad” got him 3 outfits. She who shall not be named was supposed to provide the cake, but of course that didn’t happen either.

Best part of the day…After the festivities were over, Nevin was immediately picked up and is in jail without bond. Of course the kids were not witness to it. As my mom pulled out with the kids, the police pulled in after, and blocked the path of their vehicle and took Nevin in. He’s looking at I believe a 7-10 year stay over at Casa de Criminale. All for a bunch of driving improprieties. Stuuuuupid man. Kids don’t know he’s in jail yet. They don’t need to know. Hopefully he gets lost in the system. Maybe hell will freeze over and he’ll actually smarten up. Bigger miracles have happened…or so I hear.

Jordan’s on a cripple?

Current Mood:Bad emoticon Bad

What a waste, right? I bought some awhile back. Like about 8 months ago. Just never wore them, ever. I preferred my black Chuck Taylors. Well today, I finally wore them…and well, nothing to report. Apparently they don’t cure paralysis. I know, I’m just as upset as you are. Aw well, I must move on.

I went to Tre’s first t-ball scrimmage today. It did not go well. It’s safe to say, Tre’ is totally not diggin’ America’s past time. Pictures upcoming. I think we may have to wait until next year. Luckily the glove, and helmet we got him will still be usable for a couple of years. He whined, cried, played in the dirt, got upset cuz he didn’t get the ball every time. It was not a pretty picture…and here they are…including my Jordan’s! As well as a couple good pics of Oogie.

Stop! Movie Time

Watched a couple movies, only worth mentioning one really so I’ll start it with. Unless you’re completely dense…or blind. The movie is Secondhand Lions.

A nice little family film about a shy boy, his crappy mother, and his 2 eccentric uncles. Pretty basic story. Crappy mom hears the aforementioned Uncles are rich and have millions of dollars hidden somewhere on their land. Sends shy boy to live with them while she’s at “court reporting school”, which is apparently code for whoring it up in Vegas with an abusive asshole.

Of course she only sends the boy there to try and find out where the money is hidden. Blabla, eccentric Uncles warm to the boy, and vice versa. Mom returns…blabla, touching ending with the Uncles. Not a movie I’d buy, but I did enjoy it. Kids would love it as it has a bedtime story feel to it, with Sheiks, and princesses, and big unbelievable adventures, and a love story intertwined throughout. Worth a look see if you have kids.

The second movie I watched was the craptacular Godsend. I was just expecting more of a supernatural thriller. Horrible dialog, unnatural reactions to things going on around them, just not a very well made movie. Greg Kinnear is so much better than this crap. Suggestion…pass.

31st Annual Jamaalapalooza…and guests

Current Mood:Indifferent emoticon Indifferent

Well yesterday was my 31st birthday and as per usual I went out to my grandparents yesterday to celebrate. My birthday fell on Mother’s Day this year so we also celebrated Mother’s Day…aaand Tre’s birthday is the 15th so we went ahead and celebrated it….aaaand it my Aunt Becky’s birthday is the 14th so we celebrated it….aaaand her Mother-in-law’s birthday is some day in May so we celebrated it as well.

The star of the show was obviously Tre. I haven’t really celebrated my birthday since my 18th. I just don’t care much. I got pretty much everything I need and I’m much more happy giving than receiving. So yesterday was all about Trizzay. We got him a Spider Man ice cream cake and present wise he got a t-ball helmet, a KU basketball, and a bunch of basketball cards. I got him a basketball goal as well but it’s yet to get here.

Surprisingly, she who shall not be named called to wish me a happy birthday. Tre wished her a Happy Mother’s day and then I got off the phone as soon as I could. I just don’t feel the need to talk to her…ever. Of course, she got Tre’ nothing. Drugs are pretty expensive these days I hear. So I went ahead and got him Avatar Season 1 and we’re just gonna tell Tre it’s from her. She says she’s gonna pay me back, but I really don’t care either way nor do I expect her to.

So other than that small amount of drama it was a pretty good day. Good family, good food, makes for a good day. Pictures forthcoming…

And Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mother’s out there. Hope your day was at least as good as mine.

Reality…in another dimension TV

Current Mood:Bored emoticon Bored

So I can’t seem to stop watching all this celebreality TV Vh1 keeps throwing out there. I mean I haven’t stooped as low as watching Flavor of Love, but it’s still bad…in a good way…I think.

First up is Celebracadabra. A bunch of C and D level celebs compete in a magic competition. This had me interested cuz I dig me some magic. It fascinates me.

The biggest celeb is easily C. Thomas Howell and he hasn’t been relevant for nearly 20 years. When one of your recent movies is “Mutant Vampire Zombies from the ‘Hood!” things are not going well.

It also stars Kid from Kid ‘N Play, a hip-hop duo from the early 90’s and “stars” of the House Party trilogy. Now I ain’t hatin’. I own House Party 1 & 3 and do in fact enjoy the hell out of both of them. I’m just sayin’.

Also stars…well starred that annoying fucker Ant. I only know him as the host of other even crappier reality shows. He got the boot this past week which as much as I hate him, it could kill the show’s trainwreck factor.

The rest of the cast consists of a who’s who of “who the fuck is that?” Not great reality TV but the magic will keep me coming back

Next up is Miss Rap Supreme. Same exact setup as last years MTV show “The White Rapper Show”. Only this time as you could probably guess, MC Serch is Serching(see what I did there…clever) for the next big female rapper. Easily the best part of the show was Khia, the one hit blunder and singer/rapper of that shitty ass song “My Neck, My Back” being eliminated. For those who missed out on the greatness of the White Rapper Show and “King of da Burbs”, at the end of every show one of the teams is up for elimination. They must write an original 16 verse rhyme on the subject of Serch’s choosing. Well Khia’s dumb ass not only didn’t write an original verse but spit 16 lines off a song she had already recorded and put out. Needless to say she was sent packin’. It’s ridiculous that Lady Twist was sent home this past episode. I think she had the most potential.

I forgot what else I’m watching…hmm. Well I already dedicated way too much time on these shows this post anyway, so I’m out!
