Watched the 3rd ep. of ‘Chuck’ and it gets an automatic A for mentioning the man, the legend, my after school buddy for like 3 years, Bob Motherfuckin’ Ross. I loved watching this guy as a kid, and get a kick whenever he gets mentioned on some show. Everyday after school, I’d come home and watch this guy. He was quite the man. Such a calm soothing voice. My favorite Bob Ross mention was in an episode of Boondocks and they had a character VERY similar to Bob, only he was a gun toting art teacher. Was a great episode. Also, he has the greatest white man ‘fro in history.
Darkly Dreaming Dexter is back, and I know, I’m a week behind. Somehow I missed the premiere. But all is rectified thanks to multiple showings and the miracle of DVR. This show is the 3rd piece in my “Isosceles Triangle of Awesomeness in Television”…The “ITAT”. There’s House at the pinnacle, then at the bottom, even as the number two, is Heroes and Dexter. The first season of Dexter is tremendous. He’s easily the most likeable serial killer in the history of television.
This season however has Dexter in some serious shit quick fast and in a hurry. The walls are falling faster than Bush’s approval rating. Falling faster than Dick Cheney’s hunting buddies. Falling faster than the belief in God. Falling MUCH faster than gas prices. Falling faster than my blog readership!
With all that said, this looks to be a hell of a season and if you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing this show, check out the first season on DVD. GREAT show.
Chiefs looked like their old pathetic selves again with their Kris Wilson heavy offense. Larry looked like shit as the offensive line is beyond horrible. Gonna be a long season for Larry and the Chiefs. Croyle threw a TD though…the only score for the Chiefs…yep…Huard blows.
This week with bonus MP3′s! Yeah!
First up is Faith No More with “Falling To Pieces”. My favorite FNM song, with “Everything’s Ruined” a close second. One of the most varied, eclectic, experimental groups ever. Not to mention painfully underrated. Without further ado…”Falling To Pieces”
The 2 bonus songs are the same song…different groups. That song, “Easy”, the groups The Commodores and Faith No More. Further proof that FNM owns you…and me.
It figures, I’m finally gonna go to a Braves game and I won’t get to see my favorite player patrol the outfield. Braves made it official a few days ago that they wasn’t going to re-sign Andruw. I expected it, but doesn’t make it suck any less. Yeah, he had an abysmal year at the plate but still hit 26 homerun’s and nearly 100 R.B.I.’s and nobody does it better in CF imo. I have a feeling he’s gonna seriously step it up for whatever team gets him next year.
Luckily the Mets and Phillies are set at CF. Looks like the Marlin’s could use a CF though…lucky for the Braves the Marlins are cheap and won’t be able to afford Andruw. How odd would that be though? Andruw Jones a Marlin?
So who’s on deck to play CF for the Braves now? Willie Harris? That’s not a comforting thought. He stepped it up big this year but I have a feeling it was a fluke season. He’s a career .247 hitter. Gonna be strange not seeing Andruw in a Braves uniform next year.
Finally got around to watching UFC 76 and it was…average. Only plus really were the upsets. 1st fight was easily fight of the night and could’ve gone either way but in the end Tyson Griffin won it via unanimous decision.
Lyoto Machida vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura was a bad fight. Nakamura got no offense and Pride FC is looking worse and worse after every UFC event.
Diego Sanchez vs. Jon Fitch was a good fight, and another one that could’ve gone either way. I actually had Diego winning but the judges saw it another way and Fitch won via split decision. Best part was Diego actually being gracious in defeat. Good to see.
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Forrest Griffin was pretty good as well. Mostly a slugfest, with Forrest dominating on the ground. Rua opened up a nasty gash on Forrest’s head in the second but Forrest loves the sight of blood. He just wiped it off and spelled Rua’s name in blood across his stomach as he let out a war cry that would make the manliest of ninjas cry…or not. No he just whipped Rua’s ass, out-conditioned him and submitted him with 15 seconds left in the fight via rear naked choke….and another Pride guy loses.
…and finally your main event of the night *yaaaaaawn*. Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine. A slug fest(shocker!) with Jardine nailing about 742 leg kicks, with Joe Rogan exclaiming, “..and Another Leg Kick!” every time. And that was the entirety of his commentary in that fight. Jardine was never in any real trouble, but had Liddell in trouble briefly once after a beautiful..ok maybe not beautiful, but a solid looping punch that downed Liddell briefly. Jardine won via split decision but I think he clearly and easily won the fight. Liddell is now officially at the crossroads. Maybe a Crocop/Liddell “loser leaves the UFC FOREVER” match. I’d be down for that.
