UFC 77: Undercards Suck

I only got this PPV to see the inevitable destruction of Rich Franklin by “Black Jesus” Anderson Silva. Nothing on the undercard interested me in the slightest. “Big” announcement at the event as former professional wrestler Brock Lesnar, purveyor of the Shooting Star Headbutt, has signed with the UFC. Love to see Couture destroy him…hell I’d like to see anyone destroy him.

Middleweight bout: Ryan Jensen vs. Demian Maia – Maia defeats Jensen by submission at 2:40 of the first round with a rear naked choke

Middleweight bout: Kalib Starnes vs. Alan Belcher – Belcher defeats Starnes by TKO at 2:39 of round two due to doctor stoppage.

Light heavyweight bout: Eric Schafer vs. Stephan Bonnar – Bonnar defeats Schafer by TKO (strikes) at 2:47 of round two.

Lightweight bout: Jorge Gurgel vs. Alvin Robinson – This fight started off great. Some slick groundwork, then after the 1st round it went to shit. Gurgel just got sat on and pounded for the final 2 rounds. Needless to say Gurgel lost via unanimous decision.

Heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. Tim Sylvia – Sylvia defeats Vera by unanimous judges’ decision…boooooring

Middleweight Championship bout: Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin – Black Jesus destroyed Rich Franklin in Franklin’s hometown as expected. It wasn’t brutal as last time, but it was still a hell of a beat down. Franklin wore Bengals colors, and Black Jesus in his infinite and all knowing wisdom, wore Steelers colors to further upset the already hostile crowd. It was glorious.

MP3 Saturday…or when I feel like it

I was in Germany when this song came out so I didn’t hear all the talk about how LL had gone soft and the mini backlash of this song. I for one loved it. It’s definitely in my top 3 as far as LL goes. My favorite is “I Can’t Live Without My Radio”.

Credited as the first ever rap love song, I give you, “I Need Love”.

UK Office Season 2

uk_office.jpg

Bloody hell, that was brilliant. Season 1 was funny, Season 2 was extremely funny. Much darker comedy, and overall tone. Especially the last few episodes. I can see why people like this better than the US version…I’m not one of those people, but I will be getting this on DVD…finally. Also watched the first part of the Christmas special and the David Brent music video was possibly the greatest thing ever. Great stuff.

That is all

Heroes Episode 4 and Chuck

Spoilers of course…

Finally the show(Heroes) is beginning to get more interesting. The Wonder Twins have run into Sylar and with their powers he could do some real damage. They’re on their way to see the deceased Suresh who the Wonder Twins believe can help them with their “curse”. Sylar is now “helping” them on this journey.

Lame, creepy, flying teenager is still, lame & creepy. I soooo loathe him.

My favorite storyline this episode is the newly introduced Nawlins family and the girl with Taskmaster’s powers. Which for you non-comic geeks is the ability to see something or someone do anything and be able to do it. The Rey Mysterio 619 was a bit lame, yet cool at the same time. I loved Micah trying to heal her sadness with his powers. Was a nice moment.

No Hiro this episode was a downer, and meant more lame, creepy, flying emo kid.

Molly revealing that Parkman’s deadbeat dad is the bad man in Molly’s nightmare’s was a nice wrinkle. Should get interesting. All in all, the show really picked things up this episode.

Chuck was ok. Not the great show I had pegged it for, but fun to watch in a mindless kind of way. I’ll watch it as long as it’s on.

That is all.

Michael Bennett traded

Seems Larry Johnson’s role is about to be expanded, as my beloved Chiefs traded Michael Bennett to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undisclosed draft choices in 2008 and 2009 based on performance criteria. Maybe the Chiefs will use it for an offensive lineman…but it’s not likely. Of course they need like 3 offensive lineman, a couple corners, and a real fuckin’ fullback. Goodbye Bennett, we barely knew ye…but I’m okay with that.

Chiefs kick ass again…this week.

Chiefs!

Tony G. dominated the piss poor Bengals D. LJ had a hundred yards in the first half, also scored his first TD of the season. The Chiefs D hounded Carson Palmer all day, and had two INT’s. All around good ok game. Offensive line and Herm Edwards still sucks.

MP3 Saturday…or when I feel like it

I figured since I had a picture of Rakim on my blog header I should probably post a song of his. In my opinion, the greatest lyricist ever. Not my favorite rapper, but can not deny his linguistic skills. Here are 2 of his more critically acclaimed songs. “Microphone Fiend” is a beast lyrically, not too hot on the beat. “Paid in Full” is one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time. Beat, lyrics, flow, attitude. It has it all.

Couture GONE from the UFC

The ageless wonder…Captain America

Randy Couture up and quit the UFC couple days ago after Dana White(douchebag extraordinaire) was unable to sign the baddest man on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko. Randy, was upset that Dana(douchebag) was offering Fedor a fuckload of money. Couture felt Dana should have given some of that money to the top guys who helped build the company to where it is. So Randy quit and relinquished his heavyweight title. And now the heavyweight division is a fuckin’ mess.

Side note…Fedor Emelianenko has signed with the Russian M-1 Mix-Fight Championships, a group reportedly being funded by an American entertainment related company.

It’s like eating a hot circle of garbage!

This weeks Office was on fire. Funny throughout, with a sprinkle of touching, nice moments to keep it a balanced show. Loved Stanley dancing to the music on the website, and of course Dwight’s sales battle vs the “self aware” computer. Angela has reached new heights of bitchiness. Darryl is so gonna nail Kelly. The lack of Creed sucked. That is all…

Wait, no it isn’t. Earl was ok, nothing great though.

I’m a nerd…

In the process of “acquiring” 19 gigs of comics. Be like 3 more days before it’s done. It’s the whole Infinite Crisis saga, precursor, and aftermath. Pretty much DC’s Civil War in how it spans the entire DC universe. Don’t really know too much about it but when I saw I could get it all in one fell swoop…I swooped.

Also finished up Agent X. Pretty good short series. Only 15 issues but all wrapped well in the end, and Deadpool was “revived”. Now onto Cable & Deadpool and Civil War.

Hopefully a few of my favs show up at Comic-Con. Namely Gaiman, Alan Moore, and Mike Mignola…Oh and Frank Miller I guess. Still need to finish all the Sin City books. Only have 2 left. And that’s that. I did nothing today but watch Bionic Woman…still a remarkably average show.
