Archos 605 WiFi 160 GB

Got some time on my Archos player and it is glorious. Beautiful screen. Plays just about everything after you buy the two “optional” plugins. Was a few vids it couldn’t play. Not sure why. 1st season of “Extras” wouldn’t play at all. And any vids with a screen resolution 720 or higher won’t play due to it being “too big”. Only had one of those. Plays files with all these extensions – jpg, mp3, mpg, mp4, avi, divx, and wmv. Those are all the one’s I tried. Again, can’t do anything with the WiFi as there’s no hotspot anywhere near me. Should get to try it out when I go to the dentist in October. Needless to say I’m loving it.

Another cool thing is if you have a picture of the album in the same folder as the mp3′s it’ll show the picture of the album when it plays a song from it.

For example, I have my full cd’s in separate folders. In each folder(most of ‘em) I have a photo of the album cover. Now if a song plays from a certain folder it’ll also display the cover art. Nothing ground-breaking, but pretty cool none the less. Money well wasted.

Herm Edwards…he no good.

Herm Edwards is the worst offensive play calling coach in the history of offensive play calling coaches. Down by 10, in field goal range, 3rd&1. Obvious call is give it to the best power back in the game. Get the first and 3 more downs. At worse, he gets stopped and we kick the FG and be down by one score. But noooo, Herm throws a fade route to Samie “I can’t catch a cold” Parker and it gets picked. Not even a play-action pass. Just throw it up and let Samie fight for it. At least throw it to Bowe or Tony G….stupid.

I didn’t REALLY expect them to win but he didn’t even give them a chance.

MP3 Saturday…or when I feel like it

First track for “MP3 Saturday…or when I feel like it”(aka I have nothing to post about) is the great De La Soul with the old school classic “Me, Myself, & I”. Other than Pharcyde’s “Passin’ Me By”, this is by far my fav old school track. Simple flow, catchy jazzy beat, and even catchier hook. Listen, enjoy, revel in it’s simple greatness.

Archos 604 Wi-Fi 30 gig media player

Drew(cousin) got his Archos player today. Been charging it since 5PM today and it just finished at about 10:30PM. I put all my music on it as well as the “Trapped in the Closet” episode from South Park. For the most part, I avoid South Park like the plague. But anytime you make fun of Tom Cruise and Scientology, I’m so there. R. Kelly clownin’ is an added bonus. Also put Bob Saget’s HBO special on there.

The touch screen is very nice. Very responsive. Menu’s are all easily navigated. Maybe a few too many “touches” needed in the music area. For example, if you search by artist, there’s minimum 5 touches to get to one specific song.

Can’t say anything about the wifi as I’m nowhere near a hotspot. Downfall of living in the country.

Again, very easy to add files. Just plug in via the supplied usb cord and then drag and drop. The 2 video files I added didn’t need converted at all, they played with no problems. I think they’re both encoded with xvid. I know wmv files work as well.

With all that said, I want my Archos player :(

Archos Media Player…

archos.jpg

Keeping in step with my cousin. I ordered my media player today. I got the Archos 605 Wi-Fi Portable Media Player (160 GB) as well as the Battery Docking Adapter. Should have by tomorrow, Thursday at the latest. I so excited. The Archos players are gorgeous. Only got a little time in with my cousins, but it is sooo easy to use. No software needed. Just plugged it into my laptop, and drag & drop files onto it. Bee-yoo-tee-ful!

It wasn’t pretty…

lc_larryjohnson.jpg

Well, looks like a long year for the Chiefs. They got man-handled by the lowly Texans and lost 20-3. The offense was anemic at best. Larry Johnson only had 11 carries, and Damon Huard threw 2 int’s. Not good. I say if this is the best our offense can do, then put in Brodie Croyle, give him some game experience. The offensive line was about the best thing going for the Chiefs…yeah. I say Croyle’s starting by game 4.

UFC 75: I Got’s Jiu-Jitsu

quintonjackson.jpg

UFC 75 has ended and it was pretty good…I guess. Hamill was robbed. When the hell did he get such a decent stand-up game? I was sure Bisping was gonna murderlize him. Bisping should be ashamed of this win, cuz he doesn’t deserve it. Though if it went 5 rounds I think he would’ve won by T/KO cuz Hamill was gassed in the 3rd.

Crocop is done. That was a pitiful performance by him. Barely threw any strikes. The 2 or 3 head kicks he did throw were very telegraphed. Kongo looked pretty good standing up, but he was BAD on the ground. When he had Crocop in side control, he had no clue what to do. Was almost comical.

Then the biggest fight of the night. Rampage vs Henderson to unify the Light Heavyweight Title. No one was ever in any real trouble, other than a kimura attempt that Henderson almost got on Rampage. Rampage dominated Henderson on the ground and won a unanimous decision in his first title defense. Then of course the best part of every Rampage fight…the post fight interview, where Rampage so eloquently let’s the world know, “I got’s jiu-jitsu.”. Greatest quote in MMA history!

Now I want a Vanderlei Silva vs Rampage rematch! Next card looks meh. Headlined by two guys who lost their last fight, Liddell and Jardine. Though we do get the debut of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Be interesting to see how he adapts to the cage and rules of UFC.

Spriggan(1998)

78m.jpgSpriggan. About as average an anime that there ever has been. I’ve seen much better, I’ve seen much worse. I thought it was from the 80′s the way it looked. Animation was very similar to the movie “Heavy Metal” an animated movie from like ’81 or ’82. Needless to say I will likely never see it again. Here’s a wiki synopsis to flesh out this post…

Many years ago, an ancient civilization once ruled Earth. They were known for their advanced artifacts and machines, but were destroyed in the end due to the misuse of their creations. These people left messages for later generations in the form of indestructible message plates written in ancient Hebrew, informing them that if they could not find a good use for their creations, they should be destroyed.

Various entities such as paramilitaries, national armies and armed private forces began to secretly search for these “mysterious” artifacts in order to be used for their own good and against their enemies. Only the ARCAM Corporation can stop these forces from destroying themselves with these “advanced” machines. With the help of its military arm, the ARCAM Private Army and their elite secret agents known as Spriggans (or Strikers), ARCAM plans to turn the tides of battle against those who would threaten the safety of humanity by using the dangerous artifacts.

Hot Fuzz(2007)

hotfuzz03.jpg

From the guys behind “Shaun of the Dead” comes the action/comedy/semi-spoof Hot Fuzz. After seeing(and loving) Shaun of the Dead I came into Hot Fuzz with the mindset of “this is gonna be the spoof to end all spoofs.” And how funny it was gonna be. I was half right. It was funny to the nth degree…but not all that spoof..y. It had some great moments of spoofness. My favorite being the “Point Break” scene where he fires his gun in the air. I literally laughed out loud for about 30 seconds on that part, even more so cuz I saw it coming and my laughter just sort of built up.

hotfuzz01.jpg

The story was great in an odd way. Not plausible, yet it seemed totally plausible. Hard to really describe. Won’t spoil it any. Some of the deaths were fricken’ brutal..almost too much so. Especially….nah, I’ll just let you see it. All I’ll say is, wow was that bloody. Definite buy in my case, and possibly better than Shaun of the Dead, mainly because of it’s rewatchability. Watch it now…or whenever time allows you to :)
