You know, this world would be a much better place if there were more ninjas. Ninjas would have had this whole Iraq thing licked by now. You wouldn’t have even known about it though, cuz ninjas are sneaky bastards. Ninjas are so badass, Chuck Norris cries himself to sleep at night cuz he knows they’re the one thing that can defeat him…but he’d never know it when it happened…and neither would we.

Seriously though. I was cruising my amazon.com recommendations and happened upon “Revenge of the Ninja” starring Shô Kosugi. I instantly bought it. This was one of my favorite movies back in the late 80′s, early 90′s. Hell, anything with Shô in it was considered cinematic art to me. You can have your Ahnuld’s and Stallone’s, give me Shô Kosugi and ninja goodness any day. My favorite being “Pray for Death”. He had the baddest ass ninja outfit ever in it. Unfortunately, it’s yet to hit DVD.

Another favorite of mine was Ninja III: The Domination. It was part Exorcist, Part ninja goodness, which also gave the greatest line in ninja history that I still quote today on occasion….”Only a neeenja, can keel a neeenja.” It also starred Shô Kosugi. Then there was some lesser quality, wannabe ninja flicks like American Ninja. I still watched it…alot, but it just didn’t have the same flair as all the Shô Kosugi flicks.

I don’t know if Shô is still acting, but I know he has 2 sons* who are in the biz. Apparently Kane Kosugi is in that new D.O.A. movie. My next plan is to track down some more of their stuff and hope it involves ninjas. Their dad is king of all ninjas, and Shô, I salute you!

*If you watch the show “Ninja Warrior” on G4 then you may have seen them. As they’ve competed a few times. One, the oldest, even made it to the final stage.
